Backlink Builder Tools and Backlink Generators: 8 Compared (2026)

A backlink builder tool is software that creates or wins links to your site. The name covers three very different things: free backlink generators that submit your URL to a list of sites in one click, link networks that place a link to you inside another site's article, and outreach software that helps you ask for links. This page compares eight tools across the three kinds: what each one actually creates, what it costs, and what Google's rules say about it.

A free backlink generator keeps a database of sites that accept automated submissions. You enter your URL, click once, and the tool works through its list, submitting or pinging your site to each platform. One comparison of eleven of these tools describes the targets as directories, social bookmarking sites, profile pages, citation databases and forum profiles, mostly lower-authority platforms. It adds that not every submission is accepted, some of the resulting links are nofollow, and the effect of a single run is modest.

So the honest answer to "does an automatic backlink generator work?" is that it creates listings, not endorsements. Nobody chose to link to you. That is also the exact pattern Google's spam policy names, which the section on Google's rules covers below.

DupliChecker's Backlink Maker is the best known free backlink generator, and it ranked first on Google for "backlink generator" when we checked. It is free and works in one click from a URL. The comparison above rates it as a starting point for a brand new site and as insufficient by itself for competitive keywords.

Search Engine Reports works the same way: enter a domain, press Generate Backlinks, and a list of results appears in a few seconds. Its page title promises 90+ links per run. It does not say which of those links are followed, so check the list before you count them.

3. BackLinkr

BackLinkr calls itself an automatic backlink generator and offers two runs: all available websites, which it puts at 2500+ links and several minutes, or 100 hand-picked "premium" sites in a few seconds. It reports how many links were created and how many failed. The headline number is a count of submissions, not a measure of quality.

Link networks: a link inside a real article

A link network is the opposite trade. You get far fewer links, but each one sits inside an article that another site owner published, on a topic related to yours. You pay with a subscription and by publishing content yourself.

Arvow is an AI SEO platform that writes and publishes articles for its users' sites. Its Automatic Backlinks feature is on by default for every project: your site joins the Arvow network, and when other members publish articles related to your topic, a link to your site is placed inside their content. According to the help article, every account gets one backlink a day included, shared across its projects, and extra backlinks cost 15 credits each. You can cap backlinks per day, choose between closer topical matches and more volume, and block NSFW sources. The feature is listed on the Business plan, from $69 a month billed yearly, on arvow.com/pricing.

The limits: links come from other Arvow users' blogs, so the pool depends on who publishes in your niche, and the pace is one a day unless you spend credits. On arvow.com the dashboard showed 250 backlinks from 122 different sites on November 5, 2026. The breakdown is in our comparison of automatic backlink software.

RankPill runs the same model for sites that publish through RankPill. When it publishes one of your articles, it places a link to a matched partner in your niche, and a partner's article links to you in return. You set a minimum Domain Rating for sites allowed to link to you, and each earned link costs credits equal to the referring site's rating. RankPill's plans start at $99 a month per website on its pricing page.

Distribb is an AI SEO tool with an exchange for its members. Its site lists 3 to 5 backlinks a month, placed as contextual links in other members' articles. It is part of the Pro plan at $97 a month.

The third kind of backlink builder does not create a link at all. It finds sites worth pitching, finds the contact, sends the email and the follow-ups, and tracks which links went live. Whether you get the link depends on what you offer and who says yes. For more of these, see our list of automated link building tools.

7. BuzzStream

BuzzStream combines a contact database, outreach email and link monitoring. Starter is $49 a month for one user and 500 contacts, Growth is $174 for three users, Professional is $424 for six, and custom plans start at $999.

8. Pitchbox

Pitchbox is built for teams that send a lot of pitches. Its Pro plan is $300 a month on a one-year term, or $210 a month billed annually, with 2 users and 2,000 outreach emails. It includes an email finder, AI personalization and link monitoring.

Google's spam policies list "using automated programs or services to create links to your site" as link spam. That describes a one-click generator exactly. The same list includes excessive link exchanges, which is the risk to keep in mind with any network: a link is worth having when it sits in a relevant article that a real site published, and worth nothing when it exists only to be a link. Judge a tool by where the link ends up, not by how it got there.

  • You want to see what a backlink generator does: run DupliChecker once on a new site. Expect listings, not rankings.
  • You publish articles regularly and want links without a second workflow: a link network. Arvow if you already use it for content, RankPill or Distribb if you use theirs.
  • You have something worth pitching and time to pitch it: BuzzStream to start, Pitchbox when a team is sending at volume.

FAQ

Software that creates or wins links to your site. Free backlink generators submit your URL to a list of sites, link networks place a link inside another member's article, and outreach software helps you request links by email.

They create what they say: a batch of listings on directory, profile and bookmarking sites. Those rarely move rankings, some are nofollow, and automated link creation is named in Google's spam policies.

Link networks are the closest thing. Arvow's Automatic Backlinks, RankPill and Distribb place links inside articles that other members publish, with no outreach from you. The volume is low, from 3 to 5 a month on Distribb to one a day included on Arvow.

Generators are free. Link networks come with a content subscription: $97 a month for Distribb, from $99 for RankPill and from $69 a month billed yearly for Arvow's Business plan. Outreach software runs from $49 a month for BuzzStream to $300 for Pitchbox.

Want links placed inside real articles while you publish? Arvow's Automatic Backlinks is on by default for every project, with one backlink a day included.
