Arvow vs Ahrefs: Is Arvow the Best Ahrefs Alternative for AI SEO? Same Domain, Same Week (2026)
I pay for Ahrefs and I run Arvow, so the honest way to compare them is on the same domain, on the same day. In the video I open Ahrefs' Site Explorer for arvow.com, then ask Arvow's chat for the same numbers and see what it does with them. Below: what each tool showed, where the numbers disagree, October 2026 pricing, and when you would pick one over the other.
The short version: Ahrefs is the bigger dataset and the better dashboard. Arvow is the one you can talk to, and the one that acts on the data afterwards. "Best Ahrefs alternative" depends on which of those two jobs you are hiring for.
What Ahrefs shows for arvow.com
Ahrefs' overview for our domain on October 19, 2026, with six-month changes: 376 AI responses (down 314), 243 AI Overviews (up 91), DR 59, UR 9, 37.7K backlinks (up 18K) from 4.2K referring domains, 445 organic keywords (down 127) and 7.4K organic traffic (up 3.1K, valued at $15.6K). By platform: AI Mode 74, Perplexity 52, Gemini 7, ChatGPT 0, Copilot 0, Grok paused.
This is a lot of data and it is good data. The problem is what happens next: it is my job to click through it. Which page is pulling 2,000 visits a month, which keywords does it rank for, could it rank for more? Ahrefs will answer each of those if I open the right report. Its Top Pages report shows that a single guide page, "search google or type a url", brings 2,432 of our 7.4K estimated visits, a third of the total, from 60 keywords that are mostly navigational typos. Useful, and I only know it because I went looking.
What Arvow's chat shows for the same domain
I gave Arvow's chat one prompt: "give me all the SEO data you have on my domain, such as AI citations per platform, backlinks, referring domains, domain rating, number of organic keyword rankings, organic traffic etc." It ran ten tools, from Search Console and Domain Overview to Backlink Data and the brand monitors.
The answer came back as an "SEO snapshot for arvow.com": 5,907 Google Search clicks and 988,626 impressions at 0.60% CTR and position 16.02 from Search Console, then 755 organic keywords, 2,692 estimated traffic, 26,489 backlinks, 3,481 referring domains and a domain rank of 48 from third-party estimates, with its own caveat: "The organic traffic and keyword figures are third-party estimates, not Search Console counts."
It also pulled the referring-domain list and our AI visibility from the brand monitor (55 visibility, 27 sentiment; ChatGPT 56, Claude 56, Gemini 58, Perplexity 59, Grok 45), then told me what the table did not mean: the citation counts are "the total sources cited in the platforms' answers to the tracked prompts, not citations to arvow.com specifically."
Do the numbers match? Not as closely as I said
In the video I say the data is "95% the same" as Ahrefs. Side by side, on screens from the same week, it is not that close:
| Metric | Ahrefs (19 Oct 2026) | Arvow chat (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Backlinks | 37.7K | 26,489 |
| Referring domains | 4.2K | 3,481 |
| Domain rating / rank | DR 59 | 48 |
| Organic keywords | 445 | 755 |
| Organic traffic (est.) | 7.4K | 2,692 |
Two reasons, both on screen. First, the chat labels everything "third-party SEO estimates" for "the US / English market", and it refuses to call its rank field Ahrefs' DR: "The report calls this metric 'rank'; it doesn't identify it as Ahrefs Domain Rating." Ahrefs' overview is all locations. Second, the indexes are different sizes; Ahrefs' backlink index is the largest in the category, which is the main thing its price buys, as our Ahrefs review goes into. Treat the Arvow estimates as directional and the Ahrefs ones as the reference, and never compare a number from one against a number from the other. Where Arvow does use Ahrefs' number, it says so: each automatic backlink's detail panel shows "Domain Rating by Ahrefs".
The difference is what happens after the table
This is the part Ahrefs cannot do, and the reason I made the video. With the table on screen I typed: "break it down for me, give me my 5 most powerful backlinks. also btw how could I get more links like those?" The agent listed the five strongest referring domains by the report's rank metric, then said what it could not say: the report has no linking pages or their traffic, so it cannot verify which links are the highest DR, and one domain "accounts for a very large share of your reported links", which "could reflect many links from the same site, such as sitewide links", so "I wouldn't use it as a link-building model without checking the actual linking pages."
Then the third prompt: "now I want you to give me the pages on my site that get the most traffic and find some optimizations I can make to get them even more traffic." It ran Search Analytics five times, returned our top pages by clicks for May 19 to June 15, 2026 (homepage 3,591, /pricing 400, /backlink-exchange 86, /tools/free-ai-seo-writer 64, /autoblog 52) and a ranked list of what to fix.
Its first recommendation was the right one: /autoblog had 181,780 impressions and 52 clicks, a 0.03% CTR at an average position near 4, with "autoblogging ai" alone accounting for 123,111 impressions and 4 clicks. "A high average position with very low CTR is unusual and deserves a closer look." The rest: make the free AI SEO writer page's offer obvious in the title ("seo writing ai", 521 impressions, position 5.3); refresh the most-expensive-keywords post around "high cpc keywords list" (452 impressions, position 9.7); make the ghostwriter-alternatives post an actual comparison ("ghostwriter os", 1,284 impressions, position 7.3); and build a dedicated page for "ai seo" (1,378 impressions, position 17) instead of asking the homepage to rank for it.
You could paste the Ahrefs export into ChatGPT and ask the same questions. The difference is the data: this agent has Search Console, the backlink and ranking estimates and the brand monitor connected, so it works from live numbers rather than whatever you remembered to paste. It also searches Google itself when you ask about competitors, because a competitor is a site with similar keyword rankings, and working that out needs data pulls.
AI visibility: the part Ahrefs charges extra for
Both tools now track AI search. Ahrefs does it through Brand Radar, a separate add-on "from €179/mo" on its pricing page, plus per-plan "AI prompt checks" (150 on Lite, 300 on Standard, 600 on Advanced). Arvow's brand monitor is included in the Business plan. We compared the two trackers in Arvow vs Ahrefs Brand Radar; here I will only show what the monitor adds to the chat.
The monitor tracks 30 prompts for arvow.com. For "should I choose Arvow or Surfer SEO?" it reports 83% visibility and positive sentiment, with all five models answering.
Open ChatGPT's response and you see how it decided, and from where: two independent Arvow reviews, Trustpilot, our own testimonials page, a YouTube review and an "Outrank vs Arvow" comparison. It is candid: Arvow is a good choice for scaling drafts and automating publishing with human editing before delivery, and "not a great choice if your agency needs near-publish-ready output" or "reliable support/account handling", citing review pages and Trustpilot. That is what a visibility score hides and the response view shows, and it is the list of pages I need to work on.
Add a competitor's URL as its own monitor to track the prompts they are mentioned for and the lists they are on. The LLM visibility tracker page covers the setup.
Acting on the data: content and backlinks
The last difference is that Arvow also does the work. The same project's overview shows the AutoBlog calendar generating on a schedule (12 generated last month, 0 published, because this demo project's publishing is paused), 29 earned backlinks and 1 live optimisation.
The Automatic Backlinks panel for arvow.com shows 261 backlinks received from 128 unique sources, linking 104 of our pages, placed as other users in the network publish relevant articles. The DR column for the latest rows reads 1, 46, 46, 13, 13, 0, 13. In the video I say we got two DR 46 links and a DR 13 that day; the two 46s are dated October 17. I would not call the average high, and the panel only counts links from articles published through Arvow. Our AI backlink agent write-up covers what the programme does and does not deliver; the automatic backlink exchange page has the mechanics.

Ahrefs' pricing page served us euro prices on the day of writing; the dollar figures are the plans we verified in May 2026. Every Ahrefs tier adds seats at €37 to €75 each, which is where the real cost lands for a team; our Ahrefs cost breakdown works the examples. Arvow's current prices are on the pricing page; the chat is in every plan, the brand monitor and automatic backlinks start at Business.
Which one, for what
- Keep Ahrefs if your work is link building, competitor backlink analysis or research across many client domains. Its backlink index and historical data are the reference; Arvow's own backlink panel cites Ahrefs' DR.
- Pick Arvow if what you want from the data is a list of things to do this week. The chat turns the snapshot into prioritised fixes, the AutoBlog, Site Optimizer and backlink network do them, and the brand monitor tells you what changed. That workflow is agentic SEO.
- Run both if you can. I do: Ahrefs for the numbers I quote to people, Arvow for the numbers I act on.

FAQ
Is Arvow an Ahrefs alternative?
For the dashboard, no: Ahrefs' index is larger and Arvow's backlink feature quotes Ahrefs' DR. For the workflow after the dashboard, yes: Arvow's chat runs on live Search Console, ranking, backlink and AI-visibility data and turns it into actions, which Ahrefs does not do.
Does Arvow use Ahrefs data?
Partly. The automatic backlink panel labels its score "Domain Rating by Ahrefs". The chat's domain and backlink figures are third-party estimates for the US/English market, and the chat itself says its rank field is not Ahrefs' DR. In this article the two tools differ by 20% to 60% depending on the metric.
How much cheaper is Arvow than Ahrefs?
Arvow Business is $169 a month, or $69 on the yearly promo, for five websites with the chat, brand monitor and automatic backlinks. Ahrefs Standard is €229 a month for one user, plus Brand Radar from €179 a month. Both change; check the live pages.
